• The Thick Walled Cylinder test (TWC) is a test utilized to understand sand production characteristics.
  • The sample is saturated and the bore hole within the sample is filled with brine or fluid similar to reservoir fluid.
  • The confining stress around the sample is gradually increased till the commencement of sand production indicated by the change in the pore pressure and the pore volume.
  • The confining stress at collapse is taken as the stress condition initiating sand production.
