Routine Core Analysis

Measuring core and fluid parameters that support efficient recovery of hydrocarbons, reducing uncertainty in reservoir evaluation by providing data representative of the reservoir at in-situ conditions.

All Services

  • Porosity and Grain Density
  • Routine Permeability (Gas/Liquid)
  • CT Scanning
  • Soxhlet Dean-Stark Cleaning
  • Photography
  • Flow-Through Cleaning
  • Supercritical CO2 Cyclic Sample Cleaning
  • MetaRock has years of experience conducting routine core analysis — measurements on core plugs or whole core including porosity, grain density, permeability, and fluid saturation determination.
  • From core storage and photography through to sample drilling, we take particular care over core preparation and handling, because the core is the most direct representation of the reservoir available.
  • For sample drilling we use a purpose-built press capable of drilling a wide range of rock types.
  • The press applies hydrostatic stress to the core while drilling, and combined with our in-house capability to apply hydrostatic stress, this raises plugging success rates considerably.
  • Both techniques matter most with shale plugs, which part along bedding and laminations easily.
