MetaRock’s top quality triaxial pressure vessel is specifically designed for GeoMechanics Testing. This product enables in-situ condition simulation (stress, temperature, pore fluid pressure) as well as study of the stress train behavior in any stress path (Uniaxal, Triaxial, Isostatic, etc.).

The pressure vessel is designed for standard NX specimen diameters from 1.0” to 4” with a length to diameter ratio 2:1. The upper piston spherical seat serves to minimize stress concentration due to non-parallel specimen ends. The precision guided frame is specifically designed for sample alignment and ensure repeatable results. Top and bottom platens have o-ring grooves for sealing the specimen jacket. Acoustic transducers and fluid lines are also  integrated  in  the  platens  for  effective stress,  saturation,  or  permeability measurement.

Multiple electrical feed-throughs for in-vessel instrumentation transducers are rated for high pressure and temperature. Customized cantilever bridge and high accuracy LVDT’s are incorporated in the vessel for radial and axial strain measurement. An in-vessel internal load cell is used to measure actual deviatoric stress and eliminate external force error measurement which is caused by confining pressure and external piston seals friction.

This pressure vessel  requires  a  minimum  of a 500mL pressure generator unit and ball screw frame to apply radial and axial stresses.

A multi-port pressure vessel designed to for performing permeability and porosity testing on rock samples with the provision of applying an axial load as one of the testing conditions.

Pressure Vessel with Incremental Pressure Taps

A heavy duty pressure vessel that is rated up to 15,000psi in pressure that is used in testing standard sized diameter core, 1.5 inch diameter and a long core length. The vessel head is designed to have multiple feed through lines to connect to multiple pressure taps on the side of the core along its length. Vessel is rated to handle high temperatures as well and the internal design allows us to measure resistivity of the rock.

Isostatic Pipe Pressure Vessel

The Isostatic pipe pressure vessel is a custom designed smaller sized vessel that could be mobilized easily around the laboratory and installed in different systems to perform flow and permeability testing. Inside the vessel’s body a stack is built which consists of two platens and the rock sample embedded in between.

Triaxial Pressure Vessel

The inside diameter of the cell wall and the electrical feed through connectors installed at the cell base allow for the use of in vessel instrumentation for precise measurements of Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio.

The upper and lower platens consist of standard pore fluid lines and ports for effective stress and permeability measurements. The cell and pore fluid connectors are provided at the cell base for easy interface with either the computer servo controlled pressure controller or the air/oil pressure booster system.

Pressure Vessel for MUDFRAC Application Testing

A pressure vessel that has been designed to accommodate a full sized core to perform mud frac and mudflow testing therefore the vessel has existing ports from both ends and allows four inch platens to sit inside and embed a full size four inch core sample to perform the required testing.

Ball Screw Press

Our uniquely designed assembly allows for precision alignment to ensure all specimens are loaded accurately. Our overall design enables the user to conveniently load and unload samples in a timely manner with ease and efficiency. The ball screw press features a 50,000 pound of force (lbf) computer-controlled load frame with triaxial cells for testing of 1” to 2” diameter core samples at confining stresses up to 10,000 psi.

  • If needed the vessel can also be used for CO2 cleaning or saturation.

  • Top Head: 4” thick solid steel, Blanchard ground top and bottom, heavy duty design to limit deflection to 0.0001’ at 50,000 lb load
  • Bottom Plate: 4” thick solid steel, Blanchard ground top and bottom , machined with a counter-bored pilot diameter, and drilled and tapped for future clamping of test fixtures
